Cheeses are, by excellence, part of the South Carpathians culinary and cultural tradition and its diversity is given by its high pastures and specific production techniques. Our route goes from East towards West along the Cindrel Mountains and passes through stunning places!

The Cheese and Wine Fest represents a long and rich tradition of cheesemaking in Bohinj valleys and brings to the public a fabulous wine selection of Slovenia.

On this day, homes and farmyards across the region throw open their doors. Seto cheese, cold soup, mushroom pies – these and more interesting local foods can be sampled at Setomaa’s family cafes. The event won the EHE Setomaa 2013 award for the best tourism event in the region in 2013.

Formatjazz Events

FormatJazz brings together music with tasting of cheeses from all over the world.

As part of the millennial Fair of St. Ermengol, every year Seu d'Urgell in the Pyrenees celebrates its Artisan Cheese Fair, which brings together about forty artisan cheesemakers from the Catalan Pyrenees, Aragon, Navarre and Basque. The fair includes cheese tasting, workshops and presentations, as well as an Artisan Cheese competition.

In the heart of the Picos de Europa Mountains, the village of Arenas de Cabrales helds an annual fair focused on one of its most popular gastronomic products: “Cabrales” Cheese (strong cheese).

As part of the millennial Fair St. Ermengol, Seu d'Urgell organises the Pyrenees Artisan Cheese Fair, which brings together some forty artisan cheesemakers from the Catalan Pyrenees, Aragon, Navarre, Basque and French. The fair includes a space for tasting and sales by the producers themselves, a technical workshop, guided tastings and presentations in classrooms Tasting and Competition Artisan Cheese of the Pyrenees. Emphasizes the quality and diversity of cheeses to be found.

Every autumn, near All Saint´s Day, the first of Montsterrat’s gastronomic fairs takes place in Monistrol: the Fira de la Coca i el Mató. During the Fair there are a great number of stalls featuring the star products of la coca i el mató, along with a wide variety of artisanal dairy products.

Cous Cous Fest is the International Festival of Cultural Integration, an important appointment that is renewed for seventeen years, involving in its festive atmosphere all countries of the euro-Mediterranean area.
