Description

Bath is a handsome city at any time of year but in autumn it positively glows. Great food and drink are just two of the many reasons to visit this golden Georgian gem.

This is a city that attracts ambitious young chefs, drawn not just by the beauty of the place and the countryside that surrounds it, but by the provenance of the south-west. Typically, chefs work hand in hand with their suppliers to create menus that are both seasonal and locally sourced.

So for October, expect game and big wines; warming root veg and pumpkin soup; traditional puddings like apple and blackberry crumble; hearty pasta dishes. From beautifully sweet figs and crisp apples to earthy wild mushrooms and full-flavoured lamb and beef, October boasts a bumper crop of seasonal ingredients. This is soul food, so celebrate October’s rich bounty and make it your Great Bath Feast.

This is a festival about indulgence and enjoyment; tasting fine wines and locally brewed beers and ciders; gourmet evenings and tasting menus; street food and farmer’s markets. Meet some of the nation’s top artisan cheese makers or hone your skills with inspiration from one of the area’s top cookery schools.

Walk your taste buds through the city on the Bath Taste Trail and sample flavours sweet and savoury, chocolate to cheese. Bath has many specialist food shops and delis, so seek out some treats to take home. Take tea in the grand and glorious Pump Room or chill in one of the chic and contemporary independents. This is a city that has made hospitality its business for more than 200 years.

Hotels and B&Bs will be cooking up the Great Bath Breakfast for their guests before they venture out to explore the World Heritage city. This is a ‘full English’ packed with the freshest ingredients; tasty and satisfying and locally sourced.

Autumn is a time for comfort food that brings a smile to your face and makes you feel good. So make time to wine and dine with friends and family, and explore new flavours with the menu of opportunities presented by the Great Bath Feast.
