Delicious fish soup can be tasted at the cooking competition of the International Fish Festival in Szeged. Besides the tasty food, visitors can enjoy concerts, many interesting programs, the arts and crafts fair and the fireworks during the festival.

The internationally acknowledged festival, recorded in the book of world records as well, is a genuine fiesta; the celebration of fish soup and friendship taking place on the second Saturday of July. 

The Carp Fete is a 3-day artistic and culinary event organised every year the first weekend of July on the Market Square in Zator. 

Anchovy Day Events

On the first Friday in May, Getaria will be hosting “Antxua Eguna” (Anchovy Day), an event that seeks to encourage people to taste anchovies and txakoli and take tours to discover the fishing industry and appreciate the people who work in it. 

Every second Sunday of May, the Italian village of Camogli in Liguria celebrates the Fish Festival of Saint Fortunato, patron saint of fishermen.

The seventh edition of Slow Fish – the international event organized by the Liguria Regional Authority and Slow Food – will be held from Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 17, 2015 in the spacious outdoors of Genoa’s Porto Antico (Italy).

Defying the last days of winter, Sagra di San’Andrea in Murano is held every year. Lisbon Fish and Flavours is a major culinary event in Portugal that has attracted international praise. This festival offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy innovative gastronomic dishes of fish, and seafood and the cooking of international chefs during culinary master classes and presentations.

On May 17th the locals of Koknese celebrate the great catfish living in the waters of Perse River, a tradition that goes back in time to mix with the legends surrounding the Koknese castle.
